community Events
The Colville Tribal Police Department is dedicated to building community partnerships with residents, business owners, and those who visit the reservation. Crime prevention is best achieved by partnerships between the community and the police department. Citizens taking ownership of their neighborhood combined with direct action can improve the quality of life for the citizens of the reservation.
Below is a list of community events that are held annually:
Trunk or Treat
Police officers from the department participate in the Luck F. Covington Government Center’s Trunk or Treat event. Police officers handing out candy in a fun costume, what more can a kid ask for?

Lights and Sirens
Police officers from the department participate in the summertime lights and sirens event. Firetrucks, ambulances, and police cars are out side for kids to explore. Sirens and light are going as the kids get to see how the emergency vehicles work.

Shop with a cop
The police department hand-picks less fortunate families in the local area. Police Officers from the department accompany those families while shopping at Wal-Mart. The police department pays the bill. This event is held during the Christmas season. Less fortunate families deserve a Christmas too.

Annual Fallen Officer Memorial
This event is used to commemorate the fallen law enforcement officers over the course of the tribe’s history. The event is hosted by the Colville Tribal Corrections Department as well as the Natural Resources Department (NRE). There is an honor guard at the event.

Colorama Parade
Police officers from the department participate in the summertime parade. The K9 unit, other patrol vehicles, and the command post often participate in the procession.

National night out
This event is held once a year across the country. Police departments participate in various ways within their community. Traditionally, the Colville Tribal Police Department hosts a BBQ within a designated HUD site that is somewhere on the reservation. The time and place will be announced.

Annual Spay & Neuter Clinics
This event is hosted by the Animal Control Department. Citizens may come to the event to have their dogs neutered. This is done free of charge.
